(they/them/she) is a marketing & communications specialist, social strategist, designer, & producer, with 9+ years of experience in marketing and multimedia communications, design, live/digital event production, advertising, and entertainment. They are a founding member, host, and producer of a queer comedy arts and culture start-up (non-profit; 501c3) in New York City, Open Flame, that has been featured by the New York Times, TimeOut NY, Brooklyn Paper, and Bushwick Daily, among others, and recently partnered with HBO to produce a queer comedy show featuring Cameron Esposito for HBO’s first ever digital pride campaign “Human By Orientation” in 2020. They bring a combination of experience from various creative fields to their producing and strategy, and as a native New Yorker, have a love for programming queer nightlife and community events. Simone's artistic background is in experimental video art, film, music, and performance. Simone is a professional comedian and musician, and has regularly performed (and produced) stand-up, sketch, and music throughout NYC, including venues such as Littlefield, Union Hall, The Bellhouse, Housing Works, Heaven or Las Vegas, Mood Ring, and more.

Simone graduated with a BA in Film & Electronic Arts from Bard College, where they received the Sidney Peterson Award for excellence in filmmaking for their thesis film "MEMORY CARD (2015); they also specialized in Jazz Vocals; in 2021 they created the queer karaoke party "Cowbeaux", an astrology-themed night which encourages queer folx to dress up and have a fun ol' time. Simone's first musical album was re-released in 2023 as "FOLXXXX" under pseudonym simone1111 (see here), and Simone has been DJing since college as DJ WOOGRRL.

 

During undergrad, they were the creator and writer of "Office Hours", a satirical advice column, and frequently published video art in Bard Papers. Shortly after graduation they wrote and co-produced America Online (2016) a play that was performed at Dixon Place (New York, NY).

 

Their 3D video and video art have been shown at Microscope Gallery, Brooklyn, Landscape Loft Gallery, Elsewhere, Brooklyn NY, and through their solo video show and installation “All I See is Signs” (2017) at the Chop Suey Club (New York, NY), presented by Olympia Art. More to come!
